DemoCamp Austin Recap
This week I attend DemoCamp Austin at Cafe Caffeine. The whole event was very cool. As someone who works at a very large company, it was nice to see some demos from some small startups. If nothing else the energy in the room was very good. Check here for an official recap. Here was my take:
- Small World Labs: I arrived so I missed this one.
- RedlightGreenlight: A service for small communities such as neighborhoods to rate local services like restaurants, cleaners, etc. They have a cool feature that lets you call in your review from a phone.
- innerTee: A web site that allows anyone to make their own t-shirts using artwork from the site. An artist uploads their art and then typically gets a royalty when it is used. Anyone can become a mixer whereby they can create new shirts using the online tool. All the shirts are then on sale from the site.
- Mikons: A web site where you can make your own icons. They have very cool online vector graphics tool. Once you create the icon you can print it on t-shirts.
- SnapPages: Best demo of the night. It is basically Apple’s iLife built online with Flash. This site was really impressive. Lots of sexy screens and cool drag and drop functionality for managing photos.
The hallway chatter was good as well I spoke to some people about OpenID, which lately has become my new thing. I am definitely going to check out the next DemoCamp Austin!
