I just returned from a trip in Europe. It was a great time and I won some Euros playing blackjack. Today, I went to the bank to deposit them. The teller told me he could do it but it would take some work in the form of paperwork and a long delay to get the funds into my account. No big deal but not ideal.

As luck would have it, the person next me was trying to withdraw Euros. He asked if he could buy mine and I was more than happy to trade them for instant cash.

This got me thinking that there is a need for small market currency conversion. In any major city people are coming and going to and from Europe all the time. There is probably not enough profit in it for a full business. However, there may be another way. What about a bar hosting a happy hour where they promoted the idea of trading your currency? Maybe they would even be willing to sell drinks in Euros? Sort of like a craigslist approach to currency trading.
