I had never used server-side email filters until today. I have always used client-side rules offered by either Outlook or Thunderbird. Client-side rules work well enough, when you always use the same client. More and more though, I find myself using different email clients: web, windows, sun ray, and my phone. Moving all the filters to the server side suddenly made all the secondary clients much more valuable.
