The Dirt on Transparency
I was vacuuming today with my trusty Dyson DC07. This thing is amazing, it truly takes vacuuming to a new level. One simple and genius feature of the Dyson is it’s transparent dirt cannister. It is very simple to see how much dirt and dust has been accumulated during and after vacuuming.
It begs the question, is the Dyson actually a better vacuum? Maybe I have been fooled into thinking this since I can easily what it did? Then again, that’s the point. It’s one thing to solve a problem, it’s another to demonstrate that the problem was solved.
In software many customers ask for reports, which is the same thing as asking for proof that something was done. If you find yourself creating lots of reports, then maybe you haven’t made your application transparent enough…
